Glee Releases “City of Angels” Songs Listen Here!

They were a little late this time around but the songs for Glee’s nationals episode “City of Angels” is here and all I have to say is that, the best thing about this week is knowing that next week all the originals will be back with some BIG numbers.

Just hours ago the songs for Glee’s 99th episode “City of Angels” were leaked. While it is exciting to know that we are one more episode away from Glee’s big 100th episode these numbers don’t really do much for me.

You would think that since this is Glee’s last nationals we would have seen a lot more variety and way better song choices. I was a bit confused at a lot of the choices and wasn’t sure that this was smart.

On top of that you would have thought that since this is the last time to show case the voices of Unique, Marley, Jake, Ryder and Kitty that they would, but I guess they didn’t think that through either.

The numbers are high in energy, but I don’t think the song choices were right and the chemistry and dynamic that Glee used to bring to sectionals and nationals has really gone away lately.

When you think of season 1 and 2 and even season 3’s sectionals and nationals you think of big and fun numbers that were very charismatic, thematic and worked very well for the group, yet for the past two years they have lacked.

It could be that because without voices like Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Naya Rivera, Chris Colfer, and Amber Riley the glee club doesn’t sound as diverse in tone and range and doesn’t offer much to a listener and the sound doesn’t sound full.

Of course Blaine, Artie, Tina, Sam and Schuster can be heard through the songs and even one new edition that has been much anticipated for this season. Pitch Perfect’s Skylar Astin makes his Glee appearance singing a mashup of Mr. Roboto/Counting Stars. Just one example of horrible song choices for this episode.

With that being said it is nice to know that the next two episodes are set to be really great and I know I’m excited. So until then enjoy the songs for this week.

(I’m not 100% sure who is singing which songs this week so I tried my best to match by voices.)
